OUR PROJECTS
These are the current programs that our society is working on. Being a new society we do not have a lot of projects yet, however, we are constantly looking to expand and help give students a platform for their ideas. If you have any ideas for projects that you wish to start, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
THE INCREDIBLE EDIBLE
What it is:
The Incredible Edible is a community food growing project in Leamington, started by the locals to improve local areas.
Our Aim:
We want to use practices within social, environmental and economic sustainability to improve all aspects of the project.
How will we do that:
Economic: Implement a business plan that will help to keep the garden financially supported solely by the food it grows.
Economic and Social: Implement a strategy to incorporate the citizens at the homeless shelter into the maintenance of the garden
Environmental: Provide these workers with a better understanding of what food should be grown when and how & implementing a composting system.
How you can get involved:
-Volunteer as a worker in the garden
-Develop and share your business plan with us
- Work with the homeless shelter to help workers join the program

CLOTHING AND FOOD DRIVES
What is it:
We will be hosting clothing and food drives through-out term. These donations go directly to the Leamington Night Shelter. Above is a picture of the donations we received during the last drive.
Our Objective:
To provide the Leamington Night Shelter with as many necessary supplies as we can
How you can get involved:
-Volunteer to collect donations on and off campus
-Volunteer to work at the Leamington Night Shelter
-DONATE!!!

PLASTIC REDUCTION ON CAMPUS
The Sustainable Development Society is actively trying to reduce plastic waste on campus. We wish to implement new age recycling techniques and provide students with the incentive to recycle their plastic waste. We want to launch a petition that introduces new recycling machines on campus. These recycling machines take inspiration from those already in use in German supermarkets that charge extra for plastic bottles and return the extra money charged to the consumer upon them putting the empty plastic containers into the machine.
